Did you know it is National Dandelion Day? That gave us a great opportunity to study dandelions and sneak in a little more science today. We learned about plants earlier in the year, but we also learn about them in the spring. We studied photographs of dandelions and noticed their external features. We talked about how these features help the dandelion survive. Ask me to tell you about what I noticed and learned about dandelions.
We are getting ready to write an information book about an animal. We have learned about research in the library with Mrs. Floyd, and we have worked on learning and using text features in class, so today we learned about to take notes to help when we write our book. We used a simple organizer that had the words can, have and are at the top of columns. Then, as we read, we put short phrases in to remind ourselves of information we wanted to use in our book. The kids enjoyed learning about owls and did a great job of copying what I wrote on the board onto their organizer. The children will be choosing an animal to research tomorrow and will begin gathering information to use in their book. Have a nice evening! Miss Wolfe
