Thank-you to those of you who were able to come in and visit today! I know the children were excited to have you come see what a fairly typical day in kindergarten looks like! We modified a few things due to having extra people in the room, but what you saw is mostly what happens each day. You did not get to see Literacy Stations and reading groups. I decided to not to do this as it gets very loud with the visitors usually and the readers are distracted with the extra people. So the children were on the carpet longer than normal. We do a Brain Break in the mornings, mostly dancing up to this point, but we will be adding in some other kinds of movement. I will video them soon, probably dancing to Let It Go, because they are so cute and do a great job dancing and singing to that one!
As you can see, they really know the routines of our classroom. They respond well to music and having musical transitions seems to move them along. I highly recommend it for leisurely toothbrushers or eaters. They learn very quickly where they are in the music and really want to "beat the music." And I really don't know why it is they love Herb Albert and the Tijuana Brass so much, but over the years I have tried other music and Herb keeps them moving. My dance teacher used that music when we practiced steps in dance class, so it's special to me! I hope you enjoyed coming to visit! Have a nice evening! Miss Wolfe
