Ask Me About Thursday, November 3, 2016

Today we began our day with a beautiful short story that we used to practice retelling.  The story was called The Children's Tree, and it is an animated short.  ASk me to watch the story with you again and retell the story.  When we retell, we know the beginning of the story is where we find out the problem.  Then, the middle of the story is trying to work it out, and finally the end of the story is how the story worked out.  The middle of the story is where most of the action occurs.
In math, we worked with little mystery bags with different collections of items.  We used numbers and words to tell about the collection.  We showed the number of items in different ways, such as drawing a die, using a ten frame, using tally marks, numerals, number words, and fingers.
We have had a lot of coughing in our room, but not a lot of covering the mouth, so I showed a silly video from a few years back called Why Don't We Do It In Our Sleeves?  Ask me to teach you how to cough or sneeze in your sleeve!  I'll score your cough too!
We also talked about wind today.  We practiced using different words to describe the wind.  We looked at paintings and photographs and thought about what word best described the wind in the picture.
Have a nice evening!
