Today we listened to a story called Witch Lady, by Nancy Carlson. This book is about an elderly woman who lives in a house with a black cat. The kids in the neighborhood think she is a witch because her house is broken down, there are bats around the house, and she has a black cat. We stopped along the way to ask questions and wonder if there could be another explanation. Louanne Pig falls and sprains her ankle in the lady's yard and cannot get over the fence. When the lady comes out of her house, her friends run and leave her with the lady. Ask me to tell you what happens next. We know readers stop along the way and wonder and ask questions to help themselves understand the story better.
Our field trip today was to Alaska. We saw valleys, big mountains and glaciers. We also saw bodies of water, which we will be talking about more next week. We also got a little idea of how mountains are formed. So bundle up and enjoy this quick trip to Denali in beautiful Alaska.
We practiced cutting this afternoon by making some fish we will be using in our measurement unit in math. We made very fancy fish!
Have a nice evening!
