Today we celebrated another birthday! We sing a special Happy Birthday song by Tom Chapin. Our poem was also a song that happened to be a birthday song to a cow, so of course it was called Happy Moo Day to You. Ask me to sing you this song! We played with the sounds in the song. We changed moo to other words by changing the beginning sound. We had fun singing with other sounds changing moo to boo, zoo, and several others!
We listened to a story called The Rain Came Down, by David Shannon. We studied the pictures to see how the characters were feeling. The story is about rain makes some characters grumpy, and they pass their bad mood, on to others. Ask me what happens in the story, and how everyone's mood changes.
We worked in math stations today during our workshop time. We continue to work with sorting and naming the sorting rule.
The children went to the media center today. They were able to check out a book. The books are due back on Friday.
In Writing Workshop today, we talked about what makes a good topic to write about and made a list of topics we could write about. This list will be kept in their writing folder for those times when they have a hard time thinking of a topic.
Have a nice long weekend!
