Thinking and Academic Success Skills
Part of our Curriculum 2.0 is explicitly teaching skills that will help our students be better thinkers to be even more successful academically.  We know that when we attach a label to those skills we are teaching, students will be better able to use the skills we are teaching.  These skills will be talked about throughout the day in all the areas the students are working in, not only in kindergarten but in all those grade levels using Curriculum 2.0.  Below are the Thinking and Academic Success Skills we are working on during the first quarter:

I COLLABORATE
- I respect the ideas of others.
- I tell people what I think I heard them say.
- I ask other people what they think.
- I work with others to accomplish a goal or task.
- I know how to lead a group and be a member or a group.

I ANALYZE
- I notice what's alike and what's different.
- I describe what parts make up a whole.
- I see how things fit together.
- I look for patterns.
- I sort objects.

    Unifying Questions MP1

The Unifying Questions are used for several weeks in all areas as well.  These questions guide our lessons and thinking.  The specific question we are working with is at the top of our homework each week.  We also reference it throughout the day as well work and learn.  The questions for this quarter are:
How do looking, listening, and following routines help you learn?

How do identifying and describing attributes help you understand your world and organize ideas?

How do looking and listening for similarities, differences, and patterns help you learn?

Be sure to look for the current question at the top of the homework sheet each week.

Learning the Language of Learning

Vocabulary is an important part of learning the thinking and academic skills.  Here are the clips I shared with the class to learn about collaboration.
