Dear Friends,
I miss you like crazy already!  I hope you are having a safe, fun summer.  I KNOW you are reading and writing every day.  I hope you choose to do some of the activities I sent home in the Summer Fun packet.  Most of them are on this page, as well as my top website game picks.  So you can come here to click on the links and get started in keeping your brain fit over the summer.

Enjoy your summer!  Have fun, read, and keep your brain fit so you can dazzle your first grade teacher on the first day!
Love,
Miss Wolfe

End of the Year Slideshow

Here are the first three slideshows from our end of the year celebration.  The last section will be uploaded in a day or two. I was able to locate the almost final powerpoint on my MacBook, so you will see it as it should have been.  The files are big, so it will possibly take a minute or two to load!   Enjoy!

         Just  For  Fun!

Plan a picnic lunch for your friends!  Write a guest list, menu and make invitations.  Be sure to pick a great spot for your picnic.

Put on a talent show with some of your friends for your families.  Make a list of who will perform, what they will perform, and make a program for your show.

Plan your own mini Olympics!  Think of the events you would like to have and make a list.  Decide who will be the judge for each event.  Make medals for the winners.

Take nature hikes.  Decide what you will look for on your hikes.  Make a nature sketch book so you can sketch what you see.  Be sure to label it too!And don't forget to ask your parents before you go.  NEVER GO ALONE.  Go with at least one grown-up.  Here are some ideas for nature hunts: look for different kinds of trees or plants
little creature hunt
rock hunt
night hike

    Summer  Memories

Make a summer treasure chest to keep special souvenirs to remember the summer of 2013.
Find a box that has a lid and that is no longer needed by anyone in your family.
Decorate yoru treasure chest with summer pictures and be sure to label it Summer of 2013.
Here are some ideas for what to put inside your treasure chest:
movie ticket stubs
a seashell from the beach
a rock from a rock hunt
photographs of special outings and events
postcards from a family trip
maps or brochures of places you visited

    Summer Field Trips

         Not to be missed!
Watkins Park, Kettering, Maryland
So much to do at this park!  They have a nature center with critters inside to see, train, petting zoo, walking trails, and mini-golf from Memorial Day to Labor Day.  They also have two playgrounds, one themed Wizard of Oz.  This is not to be missed!
This park is easily a day trip, just 40-45 minutes away from Potomac.  I'd use the Disney World  strategy my sister used with her kids at this park if I were taking kids; go to Epcot before you go to Magic Kingdom.  That way, you get to see things other than just rides, and then the big thrill for them is Magic Kingdom.  For this park, I'd maybe go to the nature center first, then surprise them with the Wizard of Oz playground.
I've heard nothing but great reviews of this park, so I am including the Yelp listing I found, as well as directions.
