We are off to a great start! The kids came in happy and ready for a busy day! And it sure was busy! We learned about unpacking our backpack when we get to school. We took a trip around the school and collected souvenirs along the way. We listened to a story by Nancy Carlson called Look Out Kindergarten, Here I Come! We did not get to our poetry folder today, so I did not send it home as I said in my letter. Look for it later this week! We started making artifacts for our time capsule. The children drew self-portraits which will be put in a time capsule that we will open at the end of the year. We listened to a story about Scaredy Squirrel and making friends. We opened our classroom library and talked about how we Look for a postcard tomorrow that your child will bring home to let you know what we did at school. I will send one home each day this week. After that, I will update this site on the homepage each week on Friday instead of sending home a paper newsletter or postcard. Thank-you for sending such happy, ready to learn children to school! I'm so excited to get this year started! It's going to be a great year!
It was great to meet so many new friends Friday at our Open House! I hope all my new friends are ready for a very busy day Monday! We will be touring our school, meeting teachers and staff, meeting and learning about our new friends in our class. We will open some of our learning stations, listen to two great stories, draw and write. We have a lot to do so be sure you get lots of sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and bring a big smile to school with you! I'll be waiting for you in the All Purpose room and when all our friends have arrived, we will walk together to our classroom!
