We had such a nice first day back after our long winter break! We passed the Talking Fish to share what we did over the break. It sounds like everyone had a great time, and that I need to go to the movies! Ask me to dazzle you by telling you about the kind of words we learned about today. (Adjectives!) We looked at photographs and thought of words we could use to describe the main topic of the photographs. We know it is important to think fluently and come up with multiple adjectives for the items in the photographs. Here are some of the photographs we studied today. Ask me to name adjectives to describe the main topic of the photos. We read a poem called "Resolutions." We used a Word Bird Strategy and used clues from the poem to help us figure out what the word resolution meant. Then, we wrote our own resolutions for 2019. Ask me to tell you what my resolution for 2019 is and how I will work toward it. We decided as a class our resolution would be to build on our kindness and in 2019 be even kinder. We listened to this beautiful song as we worked on our resolutions. In math we are continuing to work on skip counting. We are counting by 10's, 5's and 2's. The tricky part of all of the skip counting patterns is usually getting past 35, and then it's smooth sailing! Here are a few videos that your child can use to practice skip counting. I will put these in our homework tab of our website as well. I hope you all had a wonderful, relaxing break. Have a very happy, healthy and safe New Year!
