We had a very busy day today! We began talking about settings in stories. To introduce this, we studied this painting by Alan Bean. The children quickly understood that this was on the moon, but we talked about the clues that helped us to know that. We know that setting is about place and time, so we talked about when this happened. Alan Bean was the commander of the lunar module on this mission, and the fourth man to walk on the moon. After he retired he painted pictures of his amazing journeys into space. We had another lesson with Mrs. Kanter today. We talked about recess behavior, and how we can get along during recess. So far, the kids are reporting that they are able to find kids to play with and that they are having fun. We have had a little chasing and some punching, but I think from what I gathered at our class meeting Friday, this was more to tag them and a result of getting "wound up" while chasing. The kids are not to be chasing each other, so we talked about that. We haven't had enough consistency in days outside with rain and heat, so they are still learning the rules. One important thing I emphasized was that if someone hits you and hurts you and does it in anger, you are to go tell an adult outside immediately. Mr. Amadour, Mrs. Thomas and Mrs. Levine are the para educators who are with kindergarten outside.
We met with our Bear Buddies today. Our third grade Buddies are from Ms. Barber's class. We just got to know each other today by reading together, but will have other activities each month. Have a nice evening! Miss Wolfe
