Today we read Bee-Bim Bop!  This book, by LInda Sue Park, is about a Korean family shopping for, and making Bee-Bim Bop.  The book is filled with rhyming words and is a very lyrical, happy book about cooking a tasty dish!  There's a recipe in the back for Bee-Bim Bop.  We got hungry listening to this story!

Sometimes you just need to read a silly book!  Well, this just might be the book for you!  It might make you hungry, though!  We enjoyed watching Woodpecker try different ways to sneak into the new diner on the edge of the woods.  He just has to try waffles, but keeps getting kicked out.  Read this book and find out how Woodpecker not only tricks the people and workers in the diner, but all of his woodland friends as well!

A book to read and sing!  This is a sweet book about two dogs that love their owner, and whose owner loves them very much!  We enjoyed singing and looking at these illustrations!

Today we followed up on the Humpty Dumpty nursery rhyme we read last week and read After the Fall, (How Humpty Dumpty Fell and Got Back Up Again), by Dan Santat.  This story has a great lesson about how Humpty Dumpty got the courage to climb back up on the wall after his fall.  Ask me to tell you what happened that helped Humpty Dumpty find his courage.

The Good Egg, by Jory John, is about a very good egg who is surrounded by rotten eggs!  These rotten eggs throw tantrums, ignore bedtime, and make all-kinds of other bad choices.  The Good Egg feels like he has to be even better.  But the pressure is difficult for him to handle.  This is a great book about accepting others even when they are a little bit naughty, and taking care of ourselves.  Another really great book by Jory John!

Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewin have worked together to create these barnyard characters who keep Farmer Brown on his toes!  This time, Farmer Brown is invited to school.  The letter is typed, but there is a special invitation in the letter, written in crayon, that tells Farmer Brown to bring the animals, too!  I wonder who wrote that?

The Smile That went Around the World, by Patrice Karst is a book that reminds us of the power of a smile.  Mother Teresa said, "We shall never know all the good that a simple smile can do."  This book starts with the simple act of sharing some cookies with some people who were hungry.  The boy sharing the cookies feels so good he smiles, and that smile sets off a chain reaction that goes around the world.  Smiles are powerful!
