I know you think Read to Me, Talk to Me does not exist, but I promise it does.  I chose to continue testing instead of stopping to introduce the books and have kids choose.  I'll do it tomorrow, I PROMISE!!!!  We are very close to being finished with this new KRA test from the state.  It's been very time consuming, however, the kids liked it!  They just like sitting with me and playing "games."  I'll send home a book with each child tomorrow.  In the back of the book you will find questions and a :"project."  The questions and discussion you have with your child as you read the book is what I hope you will spend time doing each week.  The projects are fun for the most part, but I do not REQUIRE them to be done.  We love looking at them, and I encourage you to help your child get started on the project, but please do not worry if you don't get it done.  This week, since the books are coming home a day late, I do not expect you to do the project.
As a special celebration for finishing the KRA testing, as well as mClass and part of MAP P, Friday we will have a special Bubble Celebration.  I told the children as long as it isn't wet outside, we will play with bubbles,  Of course I know, this is another way for me to sneak in some STEAM, as they will be learning about colors, surface tension and diffraction as well, but our main purpose will be to have fun!
Today we learned about symbols of the United States.  We had already talked about the flag, but learned a little more today, as well as information about three other United States symbols.  Ask me about the United States symbols we learned about today.  (The kids are bringing home pictures of the symbols they made while I was testing...)
Enjoy the evening!
