Ask Me About Wednesday, January 7, 2015

Busy, short day today! Ask me about the picture we shared today.  We studied a picture to practice thinking fluently, speaking and listening, asking questions toe understand and sharing ideas even when we all were unsure of what was going on in this silly photograph.  It's good to see everyone participating and everyone being supportive of the ideas and questions of others.  Unfortunately, we didn't have enough time to continue our discussion that really went on and on, so I'll post the picture here so you can have a little chuckle.

Today we also took a little peek at some little critters we are going to watch go through a metamorphosis.  We looked at meal worms today and will be watching them over the next few weeks go through a metamorphosis.  We worked with short and long i today and sorted words.

Just a few things you might not know if you are new to the school.  On late openings and half-days, we do not have recess.  On very frigid days, we do not go outside, but if it's just cold we do go out for recess every full day.  Be sure your child leaves with a warm coat, hats and mittens.
When we miss a whole day of school, the lunch menu is impacted.  Usually we are a day behind, or however many days we were out except that they try to keep in the pizza days.  So, the menu for the rest of this week and next week is:
Thursday:  Grilled Cheese or Pancakes with Yogurt
Friday:  Cheese or Pepperoni pizza or Spicy Chicken Patty on Bun
Monday, January 12:  Chicken Nuggets or Potato Crisp Fish Fillet on bun
Tuesday, January 13:  Personal Pizza or Hamburger
Wednesday, January 14:  Chicken Patty on Bun or Turkey Frank on Bun

From there on the menu will resume as planned.

Our room stays warm, but you may want to dress your child in layers and send a fleece jacket or sweater with them on these very cold days.  A couple little friends have begun to want to wear their coats all day and the trend seems to be spreading throughout the class. I think it's more of a "kindergarten fashion statement" than that they are actually cold.  So I let them keep their coat on in the morning when they read books, but when class starts, I have them hang up their coat.

Stay warm!
Juliet
