We had a great day today celebrating Mrs. O Day.  We made cards for Mrs. O with two of her favorite things on them; The Baltimore Orioles and Elvis.  Of course, she loves the kids at her school the most and will be very happy to see the sweet cards they made.
We practiced analyzing with a painting of Camden Yards.  We noticed many symbols, especially the Baltimore Oriole for the team and the American flag.  It was a very interesting picture, but we found it curious that everyone in the crowd was wearing orange.  Our class baseball expert told us why that was unlikely to happen during a game.
We practiced counting and keeping track of counting when counting things that cannot be moved, such as on a worksheet.  We looked at mixed up collections and used counters to keep track of the counting.  We also learned a few new games, such as Acorn Line Up where numbers have to be moved to make space for numbers drawn randomly.  We have to think if the number is greater than or less than numbers already in line.  We also reviewed looking at ten frames and recognizing the quantity without counting each dot.  Wow, we are good at that and at explaining how we knew.
It feels good to be in a more normal schedule now with reading groups, math groups and having days with no testing!

Thanks for your support of Mrs. O Day!  I know it was last minute, and I'm really impressed with all the orange and black we had in the room!
