Today we welcomed a new child to the classroom. The kids did a great job of helping Adonai throughout the day. We opened our morning with a beautiful photograph. The children analyzed the photograph and made comparisons between Arizona and Maryland. Ask me to tell you about the photograph and how this habitat is different than Maryland. We also read a great book called Ordinary Mary's Extraordinary Deed, by Emily Pearson. This book was about a little girl who found some ordinary blueberries that she made into muffins. She gave them to five people and they in turn felt so good, they also did a good deed for five people. This cycle continued until the book ended with someone doing a good deed for Mary. We learned about the word ordinary and thought of examples of non-examples. One child made a text-to-text connection with this book to the Golden Rule book we read.
We also finished up our work with the water cycle. We watched a short video about the water cycle, and we learned more about the words collection, evaporation, condensation, and precipitation. We sang a song about the water cycle that we illustrated. We made up motions to go with these words to remind ourselves about the water cycle. Ask me to show you the motions as I say the words to show the water cycle. Have a nice afternoon! Juliet
