We have gotten four postcards in the mail so far for our Postcard Project. It's not too late to send out postcards if you haven't done so already. We are having fun finding the places the postcards came from on the map.
We enjoyed a great book by Adam Rubin called Those Darn Squirrels and the Cat Next Door. We read to find out about the problem in the story, then brainstormed different ways old man Fookwire could solve the cat problem. We are really good fluent thinkers and came up with many ideas. Cat lovers might not like some of the ideas, but the problem would have been solved! Ask me about the story we read!
We worked in measurement math stations this afternoon. We had fun at the frog jump station flipping a plastic frog to see how far we could get it to hop. We also worked in the rice to practice measuring volume. We also used balance scales to compare the weight of items in our measuring box, and tried to find two items that were about the same weight.
Your child is bring home a Read to Me, Talk to Me book today. We have added some replacement books and will be adding a few new books over the next couple weeks. Please remind your child to keep the book in the bag except when they are reading it so it stays in good condition. We had many books that had been scribbled in and torn pages. We depend on the generous funds from the PTA and from Mrs. Oglesby to replenish our collection so we want the books to last for a few years before we need to replace them. We know that spending time snuggling up with your child and reading is important to you and we hope that we can continue this homework for many years to come! Thanks for your help in maintaining our collection!
Have a great evening!
