Today we focused on the cycle of the seasons. We learned more about spring and summer. We also read a classic Leo Lionni book called A Busy Year. We used Leo Lionni's collage illustrations as inspiration for one of our Art Stations in the afternoon. We also looked at work by Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh and Gustav Klimt for ideas of how to represent the seasons using a tree. We had a choice of five stations with different art media to use. Students worked hard at the art stations, although I think we need to talk more about spending a little more time to really make each piece our best effort. But for a first time in Art Stations, I think we did great. Painting, drawing, cutting and gluing while listening to Dave Brubeck is a great way to end the week I think!
We had our first Mystery Reader today! The kids enjoyed the story and talking with our Mystery Reader. Ask me about the book we heard and the big lesson we learned from the story. We look forward to more Mystery Readers! I'll post pictures under the Mystery Reader tab later tonight, along with a few pictures of some of our creations from our Art Stations.
Have a wonderful weekend!
