Today's blog will be short because most of what we did today was try and get our MAP-P testing done. Unfortunately, the cyberverse had different plans for us. Children were getting suspended constantly, and to restart them, I ended up having to terminate their test. Then it took a while for their name to repopulate on my list so I could get them back on the test. I got each child on their Chromebook and then, after I checked that the sound was working, they were on their own. Eleven of them were able to finish without a problem. I had six children still working after lunch, but since we had tested most of the morning, I gave them a break They played and we had a short rhyming lesson. In the afternoon once I got the kids that needed to finish back on, we did do some work in our reading program quietly away from the testing children. I have a hunch the problem was not a Bells Mill problem, but I problem with NWEA, the site that we test from. I know they have had problems before at the beginning of the year. The children did the best they could, and I was actually surprised at how well they did on the tests I could get a score off. Some of the children clicked past the dog page so I didn't get a peek at their scores, but they will come out early tomorrow morning. I know they next time we do this assessment it won't be as bad because it probably won't have teachers all over the U.S. accessing it at the same time. These little kinders are real troopers! Usually there are some children who have some problem knowing how they are to show their answers on the test because it is not the same for every question. But these little guys figured it out!
We were going to have a mini Dot Day, but we will have to do that tomorrow. It will be a good reward for the children's patience today! I even wore my dot dress, earrings and ring! I told the kids at the end of the day that we will put today behind and start fresh yesterday, and only one of them needs to even go near a Chromebook! Have a nice evening! Miss Wolfe
