We started our day by looking at these delicious pies. We reviewed left, right, top, middle and bottom, then talked with our partner/s to tell them which pie is our favorite and which pie we would like to try. Most of these pies you can probably easily identify, but unless you are from PA or OH, you may not have had Amish peanut butter pie which is my favorite. Ask me to show you which pie is Amish peanut butter pie and to tell you my favorite pie and which pie I would like to try. In the Knowledge portion of our reading program we read Little Jack Horner. We acted it out by using motions for the events in the nursery rhyme. We also practice identifying rhyming words.
We started our Dibels testing today. The children worked on pictures that we will save for our Time capsule. The children were to draw a picture and color it that told a story of them. Right before recess I try and read and quick book and send rows of students to the restroom so they won't need to come in from recess to go. Today we actually read two books about manners. I have noticed at lunch when many of the children ask for help opening something they don't say please or thank you. We read Please, Mr. Panda and Thank You, Mr. Panda, both by Steve Antony. These are quick, short books that reinforce using these polite words. In math, we practiced sorting animal pictures. The children needed to collaborate and have group sorts not individual. That was difficult, but we tried our best. We will revisit this next week because I think we needed a little scaffolding to help the children understand how to group the picture cards. Have a nice evening! Miss Wolfe
