We are continuing to learn more nursery rhymes. Today we had some fun with Hickory Dickory Dock. We took a look at a grandfather clock and the details to help understand the nursery rhyme. We worked with rhyming words, giving a thumbs up for rhyming words and a thumbs down for words that do not rhyme. Some children get confused if two words start with the same sound instead of end with the same sound. When they are confused, I ask or remind them that rhyming words have the same last part. We listened to a whole book about Hickory Dickory Dock and heard a lot of rhyming words. We also listened to a few silly versions of Hickory Dickory Dock. We began breaking 2 syllable words in parts. We used hand motions of start with two fists, turning each fist over and opening the hand for each part, then clapping to put the word together. We also listened to a nursery rhyme from China today. I'll post it below. The children started singing along to it so I played it a second time. Enjoy! In math we worked more with hidden partners. We looked at turning around the partners to find that they still have the same number. So we could find 3 and 2 for 5, but also 2 and 3. We called this turning around the partners. We used the and to talk about putting the two parts back together and also looked at using the addition sign to put the two partners back together.
Have a nice evening! Miss Wolfe
